And it starts! IPL chairman Arun Dhumal is delivering the welcome address and the bidding war is about to start! Rs 262.95 crore to be spent and 77 slots to be filled, with 30 of them for the foreigners!

In the first slot, for capped batters, all eyes are on Travis Head. The Australian World Cup winner is a hot property and can easily breach the Rs 10 crore mark. Steve Smith is also there but several experts have predicted that he might go unsold. Harry Brook, Manish Pandey, Rilee Rossouw are the other top players!

IPL 2024 Live: LSG ‘pretty relaxed’

All the team members are ready for the auction. We are just minutes away from the auction start! This is what Justin Langer, LSG head coach had to say ahead of the auction: “Very much excited. When it comes to the action, that will be the most exciting time. The fans are an important part of every franchise and it’s my first time [at the IPL auction]. 

“We’ve got a settled team already and just have a couple of slots to fill. I’m feeling pretty relaxed. Other teams have more slots to fill. We’re hopeful on a couple of players. Everyone will have different needs and wants. I’ve always believed the most important person in a T20 team is the captain. Rahul captained India in SA a couple of nights ago. He’s a terrific person and calm under pressure. Can’t wait to work under him. I’m just looking forward to the atmosphere.”

IPL 2024 Live Auction: Purse remaining

Gujarat Titans (GT) has the highest purse remaining – Rs 38.15 crore. The other teams and their remaining purse are: Sunrisers Hyderabad (Rs 34 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders (Rs 32.7 crore), Chennai Super Kings (Rs 31.4 crore), Punjab Kings (Rs 29.1 crore), Delhi Capitals (Rs 28.95 crore), Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rs 23.25 crore), Mumbai Indians (Rs 17.75 crore), Rajasthan Royals (Rs 14.5 crore), and Lucknow Super Giants (Rs 13.15 crore).
