As far as Australia are concerned, it was Mitchell Starc who helped draw the first blood with the wicket of Shubman Gill. Even though they were put under pressure by Rohit Sharma, twin strikes in quick succession from Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins helped them wrestle the initiative back. Cummins rotated his bowlers well during the middle phase, and they did a stellar job, conceding only two boundaries between overs 11 and 40. Just when a partnership was blossoming, Cummins got rid of Kohli which opened one end for Australia. Hazlewood and Starc got the ball to reverse swing and by doing so, piled more misery on India. Adam Zampa too got into the act with a wicket before Cummins and Hazlewood helped Australia finish strongly with the ball.
