A few people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a bogey of a Delhi-Darbhanga train caught fire on Wednesday.

The fire erupted in the S1 (sleeper) coach of the 02570 Delhi-Darbhanga Clone Special near Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. The train was passing through the Sarai Bhopat station when smoke was noticed.

A video from the spot showed a massive blaze engulfing the coach as passengers and officials stood around it. While the exact number of injuries is unclear, all trains to Bihar are packed because of the Chhath festival.

“The fire broke out in two coaches of a passenger train headed to Darbhanga (in Bihar) from Delhi. Fire tenders have been rushed to the spot and efforts are being made to douse the blaze,” news agency PTI quoted Etawah Superintendent of Police Sanjai Kumar as saying.

“Ambulances and a team of doctors are present at the spot. Injured passengers, if any, will be provided proper medical care,” he said.
