Corona cases are increasing once again in India. Meanwhile, worrying news has come. Omicron’s new sub-variant BA 2.75 has been confirmed in a study conducted at Delhi’s Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital. Let us inform that in the last 24 hours, 16,561 patients of corona have been found in the country. At the same time, 2,779 people have been found infected in Delhi.

Study done on 90 patients

90 patients were included in the study. Their samples were sent for genome sequencing. Omicron’s new sub-variant BA 2.75 was found in more than half of the samples analyzed. Earlier cases of BA.4 and BA.5 sub-variants have been found in Delhi.

New strain more contagious

Dr. Suresh Kumar, Medical Director of LNJP Hospital says that the transmission rate of the sub-variant found now is high i.e. it is quite contagious. It is also infecting vaccinated people. However, due to this the patients are recovering quickly. The condition of the patients is improving in just 5 to 7 days.

BA 2.75 is ‘Variants of Interest’

The World Health Organization BA 2.75 is ‘Variants of Interest’. This is because BA 2.75 is not spreading fast in any other country. On the other hand, its unofficial name on social media has been named ‘Centaurus’. However, it has not been officially named.
