Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde In Goa To Get His Team Back

Special session of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has been called on 2-3 July.

Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde on Thursday became the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra after his faction joined hands with the BJP to oust the 31-month-old Uddhav Thackeray government from power.

  1. A two-day special session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will be held from July 2. Meanwhile, Shinde has returned to Goa, where the rebel MLAs are camping.

  2. BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis (who was speculated to be the CM) said just three hours after taking oath as the deputy chief minister that he would stay out of the government and ensure it went smoothly.

  9. Shinde camp insists that Shiv Sena is the same now, as Uddhav Thackeray is in minority in the party. “It doesn’t even arise now as to who is the real Shiv Sena, we have a legal majority and so is our legislature party,” he said.

  10. Eknath Shinde, a senior minister in the Thackeray government, said he took the decision (to rebel against the MVA government) for the development of the state with the support of 50 MLAs and “there was no personal interest involved”.
